Writer in the Kitchen is a column where travel and food writer Jessica Colley interviews chefs around the globe.
Jessica has found that chefs are often most comfortable talking in the kitchen. Being surrounded by favorite ingredients, tools, and equipment can spark stories and details that chefs don’t reveal while sitting down formally in the dining room.
The idea for the column came from Jessica’s background working as a server in two award-winning restaurants. Only when chefs were in front of the stove — and not in the weeds — were the best stories, thought processes, and philosophies about how to cook revealed.
