About the Great American Travel Dream:

Gondola in Venice

The Great American Travel Dream shares stories from one travel writer who is always dreaming of her next meal or next trip.

Posts with an international focus are centered in Europe, transporting readers across the pond with sights, sounds, and tastes. Jessica believes travel comes in big or small packages, and encourages readers to infuse travel into their daily lives through cooking, dining, and exploring local neighborhoods.

Jessica doesn’t like to be pigeonholed into one category of travel – and she doesn’t think her readers should be either. On this blog you will find inspiration for whatever sort of travel strikes your fancy today: luxury travel, adventure travel, culinary travel, country escapes, city excursions, and wherever Jessica’s wanderlust takes her.

About Jessica Colley:

Cinque Terre, Italy

Cinque Terre, Italy

Jessica Colley learned how to pack light at a young age. Her father insisted on carry-on luggage for all journeys, and from the time of 7 years old, she was taught, ‘If you can’t carry it, you don’t need it.’ These travels inspired a love of cuisine, and memory deep rooted in sensory observations. Standing on a chair in her mother’s Italian kitchen, learning to cook, Jessica needed to know where these flavors came from and why.

Drawn to writing in her childhood, Jessica committed to poetry. Receiving a degree with honors as the Outstanding Graduate in Creative Writing from the University of Miami, Jessica extended her studies at both the New School in New York and Oxford University in England. Addicted to the workshop, Jessica has joined writing groups from Savannah Georgia, to the Irish Writers’ Centre in Dublin, Ireland. After graduating college, Jessica took the path less traveled and committed to traveling 16 of Europe’s countries for a year.
